Consumers still rely on Better Business Bureau

After more than 100 years, consumers are still relying heavily on Better Business Bureau for free reports on companies and charities, ethical business guidance, complaint services, anti-fraud education and marketplace news. In 2012, BBB serving Alaska, Oregon and Western had a banner year:

Locally, BBB received more than 11,000 requests for information each day. Consumers contact BBB primarily by phone, email and online at akorww.bbb.org.

BBB’s local website had 4 million visits—up from 3.4 million visits in 2011.

BBB provided more than 3.8 million BBB Business Reviews on companies in Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington—a 24 percent increase from 2011. Many consumers research local businesses and charitable organizations at akorww.bbb.org/find-business-reviews.

BBB provided more than 1.2 million BBB Business Reviews on local BBB Accredited Businesses. Before buying, many shoppers use BBB’s Accredited Business Directory.

BBB closed 32,774 complaints on companies in Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington. Complainants file at bbb.org.
