Tint Shop a popular destination
There is a new enterprise rising in Buckley and its future is so bright it has to wear shades – or tinting.
“Our first month of business far exceeded our expectations. Our phone has been ringing off the hook,” said Plateau entrepreneur Benjamin Owen, whose shop not only handles individual clients, but also has contracts to do window tinting work on vehicles from Enumclaw Chrysler Jeep, Gamblin Motors and Fugate Ford and Mazda.
Fugate employee Kurt Kranc, who brings cars and trucks into The Tint Shop on a regular basis, gave Owen a ringing endorsement.
Apparently, a multitude of customers agree with Kranc’s premise regarding the Tint Shop’s prowess, but Owen and his silent partner Amy Holt, who represents the capital backing behind the enterprise, were at least partially prepared for the Plateau’s favorable reaction to the new business.
Holt and Owen run the business out of a large garage at their Buckley residence at A Street and River Avenue, behind Wally’s Drive-In, and believe that window tinting is important for vision, health, maintenance and safety reasons.
“The sun’s rays are harmful and are proven to cause skin cancer,” Owen said. By blocking up to 99 percent of these harmful rays, tinted windows can protect your skin from these damaging effects.
“Additionally, during the hot summer months, window tinting can reduce the interior temperature of your vehicle up to 65 percent, thereby preventing heat exhaustion and baking your vehicle’s upholstery,” he said. Safety is another major benefit of tinted windows, as the adhesive properties of the polyester material that bonds to the glass prevents shattering.
“So far it has been nothing but a positive endeavor,” Holt said. “In the course of building this place up, we have met nothing but good people in Buckley and the economy being what it is and car sales being what they are, this business has been a real blessing.”
