Puget Sound area prices up 2.1 percent over the past year | Consumer Price Index

Prices in the Seattle area rose 0.3 percent for the two months ending October 2014, while up 2.1percent over the past 12 months

The latest Consumer Price Index news release for the greater Seattle area is now available from BLS at http://www.bls.gov/regions/west/news-release/consumerpriceindex_seattle.htm.

Items of note include:

  • Prices in the Seattle area rose 0.3 percent for the two months ending October 2014, while up 2.1percent over the past 12 months
  • Local energy prices fell 7.6 percent over the past 2 months, primarily due to lower prices for gasoline (-11.2percent)
  • The all items less food and energy index rose 0.8percent over the past 2 months, while up 2.2percent over the past year
  • Nationally, prices increased 1.7percent over the last 12 months
