January 24, 2011 · Updated 3:55 PM
Two students from Enumclaw High School successfully auditioned and earned the right to perform a solo with the Tacoma Youth Symphony.
Alyssa Hudon will solo on piano during a 7:30 p.m. concert March 5. She will perform the Grieg Piano Concerto, Movement No. 3. Kaelynn Dirks will solo on violin during a 3 p.m. show March 13, performing “Zigeunerweisen.”
Both concerts will be at the Rialto Theater in Tacoma.
The girls also play with Enumclaw High School’s orchestra and enjoy playing violin or piano duets and violin/piano pieces together. Playing a violin duet, they won first place at the Green River regional competition last year and received a superior rating at the state contest in Ellensburg.
