Thirteen to vie for Young Women honor

This year, 13 young women from the Plateau area will participate in the Distinguished Young Women Program, formerly Junior Miss.

Distinguished Young Women of Enumclaw and Distinguished Young Women of Buckley are separate programs, with a winner named from each going on to state in Pullman in August. However, the programs will take place the same night in the same venue – 6 p.m. March 26 at the White River High School theater. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door beginning at 5 p.m. the night of the event or in advance by contacting Tressa Lacy at 253-862-9715.

Enumclaw participants are Lauren Cary, Kelly Patrick, Chandler Weiman, Joslyn Lynch and Taryn Schreiner. Alex Mitchell, Christina Ramous, Megan McBarron, Megan Maine, Cheyanne Silbernagel, Katie Simmons, Kelly Coyle and Anna Goad will participate from Buckley.

The Distinguished Young Women Program will host a fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bonney Lake Applebee’s. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. Children 5 years old and younger are free. Proceeds fund scholarships for participants.
