April 6, 2011 · 11:24 AM
The White River Family Center will host a free Guiding Good Choices workshop beginning April 20.
This fun workshop is designed for families with youth ages 9 to 14.
Parents will discuss how they can help youth make wise choices by establishing clear limits; helping youth deal with peer pressure; recognizing youth’s changing role in the family; managing family conflict and increasing protective factors.
Youth activities will focus on resisting peer pressure, recognizing strengths and getting along with others.
A free dinner will be provided for the whole family at 5:30 p.m. Childcare for younger siblings will also be provided.
The classes are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. at Mountain Meadow Elementary School, 11812 Mundy Loss Rd., in Buckley. The classes will take place on Wednesdays through May 18.
To register call White River Family Center at 360-829-5883 or Klara at 253-845-9177.
This class is hosted by the White River School District’s Prevention Services/Parent Involvement Program, Pierce County Human Services, White River Family Support Center, Good Samaritan Community Services, Readiness to Learn and the Family Support Part-nership.
