The Black Diamond Community Center will host a beginning stained glass art class in September. Sponsored by Seniors Making Art, the class is free.

Local senior Tom Gates will be the instructor. The class runs Wednesdays for seven weeks from 10 a.m. to noon, starting Sept. 7.

This class is designed to teach the basic skills to complete several stained glass objects. Students will learn to cut and grind glass, foil and solder. All materials and tools will be provided. Participants need to be able to independently use glass cutters, grinders and soldering equipment with basic instruction. No artistic experience is necessary.

Participants must be new to the program. Space is limited, so call Leslie at the Black Diamond Community Center at 360-886-1011 by Sept. 2 to sign up.
