The Enumclaw Senior Activity Center is sponsoring a Respect Our Elders Day, a day to recognize and honor senior citizens, Sept. 29.

The day will include a ceremony where Enumclaw’s oldest citizen will be crowned. Enter the contest, or enter someone else, by calling the center at 360-825-4741; visiting 1350 Cole St.; or going online to seniorcenter@ci.enumclaw.wa.us. Entrants must have an Enumclaw address.

Visitors can enjoy fresh-baked pies during lunch. The day will include the opening of the Love is Ageless gift shop with positive aging items; there will be music provided by the Midday Melody Makers at 11 a.m. and the day will conclude with Simply Soup, a free community soup dinner, at 5:30 p.m.

The Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce and local businesses will recognize seniors with a 10 percent discount from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Look for special signs in store windows.
