Today’s New Information:

All students that ride on Bus 20 – please be on the look-out for two jump drives, both were sealed in ziplock baggies (one was black and the other was purple and silver) that was left on the bus.  They contain one of our seniors presentation and their paper. If you have them or know where they are please return them to the Activity Office as soon as possible.

 

Buzzy's Express is closed on FRIDAY!  Again, Buzzy's Express is closed on Friday!

For All Students that took AP tests:  Did you leave something at the test site?  Please come to the Main Office for your item. And all other EHS students are you missing clothing, jewelry, shoes – please check the Attendance Office for Lost and Found items.

 

SENIORS:  This is the last day to buy Prom tickets.  They are $85 dollars each.

 

Reminder for seniors about Guest Passes – They must be returned to Mr. Pennington by this Friday, May 25, 2012.

 

Attention Track & Field Athletes:  Please turn in your uniform to Coach Stussy this week!  You can find her in the gym area.

 

Attention all future Dance Team Members!  Dance Team paperwork is due tomorrow!  Mrs.Lang can answer any questions.

Information in Review:

IT’S PROM SEASON!! Order your corsage/boutonnière at the EHS Hornet Floral Shop today! Stop by Room 810 soon, orders must be received by May 30th! Boutonniere’s are $10, corsages are $15, or you can pay $20 for the set. All pieces will be made with roses and can be sprayed any color! Please pay cashier and bring receipt to pick up your pieces Friday, June 1st!

 

Attention everyone. Mark your calendar. Friday, June 1st is the annual EHS Streetmasters Club Car Show and Car Bash. Once again there will be prizes for the Best of Show for students and teachers vehicles along with many other categories. For more information, check out the flyers around campus or the entry form which you can pick up in the auto shop or in the activities office. Hope to see you there.

 

Summer Boys Basketball starts Tuesday, May 29. Information has been distributed. If needed, please stop by the athletic office.

Only 3 more sessions of after-school tutoring in the Library.  If you want to get those missing assignments in, we can help- every Monday and Wednesday, 2:30 – 3:30PM.

 

The "Connections Program" is coming to EHS! What is the Connections program you may ask? This is an elective class you can take and be a peer tutor for one period a day helping your special needs peers. You would be asked to tutor in math, reading, writing or whatever the class is working on that period. This program has been a huge success at TMMS and we can make it one at EHS also. If you are at all interested in checking it out, there is a sign up sheet on the round table in the counselors office. Mrs. Shorter will be collecting those names and will call you down for an interview in the next couple weeks. This is an awesome opportunity for all Hornet's to give back to their peers and their community!

All 5 golfers, Tyler Salsbury, Colton McClusky, Chase Dolliver, Tiffany Wilkening & Madeline Petellin, made the cut and advanced to day 2 of the State Golf Tournament.  Tyler Salsbury is currently in 4th place and will play in the final group with a chance to win a State Title!

The Hornets Girls Water Polo Team finished their season with a 24-2 record.

The Hornets had six players named to East Division All-League Teams, and four players named to All-State Teams:

State Defensive Player of the Year - Allie Larrea

First Team All State - Katie Larrea

Second Team All State - Megan Lesmeister, Hannah Kinniburgh

Honorable Mention All State - Allie Larrea

First Team All League - Allie Larrea, Katie Larrea, Megan Lesmeister

Second Team All League - Annie Birklid, Hannah Kinniburgh

Honorable Mention All League - Bella Davenport

Hornet Coaches Bob Averill & Ken DeMan were named East Division Coach of the Year, and Washington State Coach of the Year. Congratulations to all!

Congratulations to the follow Track and Field athletes moving on to the State Championships this weekend at Mt. Tahoma High School: Cory Johnson, Maria Blad, Kolton Carlson, Anna Marie Forza & Logan Ross

Another Congrats to Marie Blad for breaking the Sophomore record in both the 100 and 300 hurdles and Sherry Baer for another personal best and breaking the school record in the pole vault with a 9 feet 9 inch vault!

 

After school math tutoring is available for any students who need a little extra help with homework or preparing for tests.  Tutoring is held Tuesday in portable 10 and Thursday in room 211 from 2:40 to 3:30.  Drop in for all or just part of the time to get your math questions answered.  Hope to see you there.

COUNSELING NEWS:

 

The April/May Monthly Scholarship & College Information List is now available.  Stop by the Counseling or Career Center to pick up a copy or go to the Career Center Swift Website.

SENIORS 2012:

If you are a senior that has received 6 letters or more, please stop by the Athletic Office.

 

Seniors:  If you ordered honor cords, they are available for pick-up in the Main Office.  See Mrs. Bray.

 

Graduation Walking Partners will be assigned, if you do not have a partner, the week before Graduation when tickets are being handed out and also at Senior Check out.

 

Please let us know of any scholarships you have earned.  Go to the Enumclaw High School Homepage and click on the link for Senior Scholarship Form and follow directions on form.  The deadline to turn any scholarships in is May 18th

 

If you are a senior  -- please stop by the activity office.

 

Countdown to Commencement:

Each day through June 8th, Mr. Nelson would like one or more 2012 graduates to be featured on the district website as we "Countdown to Commencement".  There is a short form available in the Activities Office to be completed by the graduate.  Please return your completed form to the Activities Office.  A picture of the graduate will be posted on the website along with the information from the form. We would be pleased to have ALL the 2012 grads featured!

 

Graduation announcements are available in the Main Office for purchase.  They are $1.25 ea.

And if you have not picked up your gown, etc. it is available in the main office right now!

 

SENIORS:  Do you qualify for the COMMITMENT AWARD?  Did you turn out for any sports?  Have you been in any Clubs?  Did you run for an office? In BOC?  Were you on the Honor Roll?  Have you done any School Service/Community Service?  If you can say yes to these you may qualify for this award.  Please come to the Activity Office to pick up the information

 

PROM ROYALTY VOTING will be during both lunches May 22nd - May 24th. Seniors only!

 

GRADUATION TICKETS will be distributed during both lunches June 4th - June 8th. Each graduate will receive 10 complimentary tickets, and any additional tickets may be purchased for $3 each. No tickets will be sold at the door of Graduation!  ONLY graduates may pick up and purchase extra tickets.

GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) New club -Believe in stopping bullying and harassment?  Think everyone deserves kindness and respect? Wish you had a place to go for support?  Want to make an impact in our world?  GSA meetings are on Wednesday’s from 2:30PM to 4:00PM in room 142.  Get involved!

 

Interested in serving your community?  Want to help others?  Interact club is a service club here on campus that works with the Rotary Club.  We are looking for volunteers to help with events

The Native American Club is an opportunity for students to participate in leadership and cultural activities. The group will meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the counseling offices. There are no fees to participate in the club. Club participation is a great opportunity to learn about Tribal leadership.

 

Need something fun to do on Monday nights? Young Life is the answer. Come join us in the senior locker bay at 7:37PM.

 

COMMUNITY Happenings:

Enumclaw School District Clothing Bank  Need clothes? We have them for free. The clothing bank is located at JJ Smith School 1640 Fell Street.

We are here to help you out. We have gently used donated clothes and shoes!  .   Hours are Tuesdays 10 am - 6 pm.  We are open whenever school is in session.  Sheila  253-740-1367

Hey friends this will separate the Hornets from the honey bees (and the DNA from the RNA): "We need YOU to come celebrate Mr. Phil Poppleton and his huge contribution to education with a fabulous party at the Enumclaw Danish lodge- 1708 Porter St.– on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 2:00 pm until the wee hours! Look forward to laughs and stories and dancing. You and your family are expected to attend. No exceptions will be made without written explanation slip from a parent or doctor.

Please bring a pot luck item and beverage of your choice.  This is the hot ticket in town- so come on out and enjoy showing your appreciation for this great educator.  Oh, and spread the word to other students, EHS staff, and friends.  It's going to be a great time.  Dress is strictly formal Enumclaw- barn boots, cork boots, or whatever is comfortable.  The main thing is that YOU ATTEND and bring your family and friends!  Arrive anytime.  Can't wait to see you!

Are you looking for a community service activity?  The Enumclaw Visitor Center is looking for tourism-minded volunteers to help promote Enumclaw to visitors coming to the Mt.
