The White River School District was featured in the fall 2008 Northwest Education magazine, a product of the Northwest Regional Education Laboratory. The article, titled “Changing the Focus” and written by Bracken Reed, was part of a series of articles in the issue that concentrated on Response to Intervention (RTI) in the general education classroom. Reed mentioned in the editor’s note that RTI represents a new philosophy where “student learning rests with those responsible for instruction.” His article tells the story about how White River incorporated Response to Intervention into its efforts to adapt to rapid change. The article spotlights Foothills Elementary School.
