It was a close race for the 2009 People’s Choice Award for Best Chocolate of Festival but, with 769 ballots counted – and only 32 votes separating the winner and the runner up – the winner was Sweet Decadence from Newcastle, Wash. Enumclaw’s Sweet Necessities was runner-up at the inaugural Chocolate Festival, which took place Feb. 6 and 7 at the Enumclaw Expo Center. According to event coordinator Carrie Olson, Intrigue Chocolates received the most comments on the ballot. The event, according to Olson, drew more than expected with more than 2,500 tickets sold.
