Financial Situation

Since my last column we received an additional $5,000 from the Enumclaw Rotary Foundation. Our current financial situation:

Debt: $6,750

Cash: $1,310

We have ongoing operational expenses of approximately $1,100 per month. We can take credit card donations on our Web site at www.enumclawtutors.org.

We are currently in need of tutors on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We ask for a commitment of two hours per week on either night from either 6 to 8 or 7 to 9 p.m. We also need a volunteer, or volunteers, to help us keep the drop-in center clean. This would take about three hours per week and could be done at your convenience outside of our regular tutoring hours. Anyone interested in helping with any of these needs can contact Walt Bennett at: walt@villagetutors.org.

Finally, I am looking for an executive director for the Enumclaw + Black Diamond Tutoring Program. This is a volunteer position that would require approximately 20 hours per week. The person desiring to fill this position must have exceptional people and organizational skills. This person would not be required to tutor, although it would not be discouraged. Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, day-to-day operation of the centers, fundraising, tutor coordination/scheduling, tutor recruiting, coordination of special programs, school relations, etc.

As always, if you would like to drop in to visit your tutoring center we would love to see you. We are at 1920 Division St. in Enumclaw. Our hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. We are closed on any day that local schools are closed.

Walt Bennett is the founder and cheif executive officer of Village Tutors. He can be reached at walt@villagetutors.org.
