VFW posts honor veterans

All military veterans will be honored and recognized at 10 a.m. Saturday at South Prairie’s Veterans Park, in front of the community center, state Route 162.
Sen. Pam Roach, member of the joint select committee on Veterans and Military Affairs will be the keynote speaker. Orting Mayor Peggy Levesque will emcee the event and offer opening remarks.
Three will be additional speakers, a wreath-laying and live music performed by Heidi Anderson and Chuck (Sarge) Lawrence including the “National Anthem,” “Thanks To Them,” and “God Bless America.” Foothills Elementry School bus Route No. 6 riders will recite the preamble to the U.S. Constitution.
There will be refreshments and social time available after the formal ceremony.
Members of Enumclaw’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1949 have had a busy week, educating students during a variety of Veterans Day assemblies. They will be a visible part of the Veterans Day program today, Wednesday, at Tahoma National Cemetery.
