Garrett nets VFW honor
July 26, 2010 · 12:13 PM
Kaylee Garrett, an emergency medical technician/firefighter with the Buckley Fire Department, received the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Citation for Public Service-EMT award.
Garrett had been nominated by Buckley Fire Chief Alan Predmore and had previously been recognized by Enumclaw VFW Post 1949 for her work.
She has been with the Buckley department more than four years and has more than 20 years experience teaching and practicing emergency medicine. With the recognition came a citation, medal and financial award.
Each year the Veterans of Foreign Wars honors outstanding individuals in the field of public safety. One outstanding individual from each state in the fields of fire, EMT and law enforcement are recognized nationally. Local VFW posts recognize outstanding individuals and then nominate them for the state award.
