Blaine Larsen returns home for concert
Blaine Larsen returns home May 2 for a benefit concert at Calvary Community Church in Sumner.
The White River High School graduate turned country singing sensation will perform ENGAGE – An Evening with Blaine Larsen at 7:30 p.m. to benefit families in need. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
Since graduating from White River, Larsen has two Top 20 country hits and three Top 40 country hits, wrote "I Gotta Get to You" for George Strait's 2009 album "Twang" and recently toured with Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts.
VIP seats, which included a dinner and a meet-and-greet with Larsen, sold out quickly.
General admission tickets are still available for $10. Tickets can be purchased at www.cccsumner.org or by calling 253-863-3352.
According to Calvary Community Church ENGAGED director Tami Schmidt, Larsen has ties to the church and was excited to help the community with a concert.
Schmidt said the 750-seat church on Gary Street will provide an intimate setting for Larsen and his fans.
"It will be a small, casual environment, where he sings a concert and has a conversation with us," she said.
The evening could be more intimate for a number of people in attendance, who will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a pizza party with Larsen.
Schmidt said she's amazed how fast the news has traveled and how many people in the community know the young singer. Each $10 ticket, she said, will make a difference for someone in need in the community.
Larsen makes his Sumner stop after an April 28 concert at Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in Ocean Shores and a performance in East Wenatchee.
After his Sumner performance, he heads to Idaho, Oregon and California before venturing to the East Coast in August for concerts in Massachusetts and Iowa.
