Local piano students show their skills
Each spring, the Enumclaw Music Teachers Association, in affiliation with the Washington State Music Teachers Association, host adjudications for piano students studying with the EMTA chapter members.
This is an opportunity for students to have their musical performance constructively critiqued by an accredited music professional. The teachers are also involved in private consultation with the adjudicator to help them in their own work as piano instructors.
This year, local music teachers had Dr. William Chapman Nyaho as their adjudicator. Much artistic fun was had by students, parents, teachers and the adjudicator. Students and teachers alike were inspired to continue their work as musicians and educators.
At the conclusion of the adjudications, the EMTA presented an honors recital April 17 at the Nazarene Church in Enumclaw, featuring students of Shala Gunnells, Luanne Kauppila, Bonnie McLarty, Dorothy Radliffe, Gay Santerre, Kathy Taylor, Angela Wentz and Julia Wentz.
The following students were chosen by Nyaho from adjudications to participate in the honors recital: Grace Jung, Jonathan Sugihara, Ava Korcek, Rosie Una, Danielle Flintoff, Benjamin Bozich, Reilly Desmal, Haley Unger, Micah, Bolles, Callista White, Emily Ellis, Jordyn Price, Connor Holtz, Taylor Lapinski, Estella Kim, Sarah Ringering, Matthew Wilhite, Clara Hanson, Jacob Revell, Melea Rhodes, Luke Nelson, Norman Sossong and Gladys Nadal.
In addition to participating in adjudications, McLarty’s student Kim has been chosen to represent the local chapter at the WSMTA annual conference honors recital in June.
