Helena Poortvliet, an Auburn resident, opens her latest exhibit, “The Wild West – World Tour,” in the city of Enumclaw’s Gallery 2009 today, Wednesday. Her work will continue on display through June 30.
The community is invited to a reception for the artist from 6 to 8 p.m. June 12.
According to city of Enumclaw Cultural Programs Manager Gary LaTurner, Poortvliet is a representational painter with extraordinary skills that are a result of much practice. Her work features a variety of wildlife and their natural environments.
Her exhibit represents a fresh treatment of magnificent animals from around the world, accurately represented in luminous and painterly surfaces, he noted.
“Poortvliet is an active painter whose inspiration comes from nature. Her work is well-composed, interesting, and for sure worth a trip to Gallery 2009,” he said.
