Enumclaw High School band teacher Eric Stevens found a wonderful surprise in his mailbox. The results from May’s Green River Music Regional Orchestra Concert, which took place at Kentlake High School, showed the EHS orchestra scored straight 1s.

“One means a superior rating, that’s as high as you can get,” Stevens said.

It means the orchestra earned a perfect score in the areas of tone, intonation, technique, balance, interpretation, as well as other factors like appearance and choice of music.

“I couldn’t believe it, straight ones down the board,” Stevens said.

“They worked really hard,” he said of the 28 students who performed the couple of pieces.
