Elfers, don’t put words into my mouth

I may support our president, but that doesn’t mean you can assume my thoughts.

Editor’s note: This letter is in response to the Jan. 2 column, “Enforce Reform and Control Act for border security.”

Once again, I am disappointed that the Courier Herald publishes leftist opinions with no counter-balance. Rich Elfers pontificates from his obvious Democratic support stand with very little evenness to his subject matter.

It wouldn’t be so bad if he merely addressed the issues that are front and center to this country currently, reviewing facts and weighing alternatives and possible outcomes. He also, as the pages states in the header, is allowed to discuss his opinion as it pertains to the subject matter.

But he may not, as in his last column, be as arrogant as to assume my thoughts, words or position on any matter! These are mine and mine alone to speak or not.

He wrongfully writes that as a Trump supporter that I “am not concerned with details or the reality of keeping illegals out of the country.”

My father flew P-47 fighters out of North Africa escorting B-17 bombers to free Italy and France from Franco, Mussolini and Hitler. My uncle went to Korea. My husband went to Vietnam.

These veterans were battling the “socialist group think” that killed millions and is so dangerous to our country and that is being peddled by our new Democratic Party folks.

Yes, I am a Trump supporter, I support our troops and law enforcement and I stand for our flag and Pledge of Allegiance proudly and in public, and Rich, you are an arrogant, uninformed buffoon.

How dare you assume what I do and don’t know, or how I think! Go read your history books again and stick only to what you do know or as Confucius say “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than open mouth and remove all doubt.”
