Last year, 200 runners came out to tackle the Chambers Bay 5K Challenge. On July 20, this energizing fun run is back and better than ever.

The race takes place along the Soundview Trail in Chambers Creek Regional Park, which offers some of the most breathtaking views in the Pacific Northwest as well as a muscle-straining challenge on the trail’s infamous switchbacks. For runners looking for an easier track, the 1-mile dash will take participants out and back on the adjacent Grandview Trail.

“All ages are welcome, all abilities are welcome,” said Acting Superintendent of Recreation Andrea Clay of Pierce County Parks and Recreation.

The races will take place Saturday, July 20 at 8:30 a.m. in Chambers Creek Regional Park. For those who register before July 5, the 1-mile course will cost $5 and the 5K Challenge will cost $15. After July 5, the prices go to $10 for the 1-mile race and $20 for the 5K. Shirts will also be available for $15 each.

Registration forms are available on the Parks and Recreation website. Day-of-event registration will begin at 7 a.m. on race day. More information about the race, including how to register, is available online.
