The latest Consumer Price Index news release for the greater Seattle area is now available from BLS at http://www.bls.gov/ro9/cpiseat.pdf.

Items of note include:

• Prices in the Seattle area were unchanged for the two months ending August 2013, while up 1.1% over the past 12 months
• Rent prices rose 1.3% since June, and 5.0% over the year
• From June to August apparel prices decreased 0.7% while energy prices rose 0.4%
• The all items less food and energy index decreased 0.1% over the past 2 months, while up 1.3% over the past year

Nationally, prices increased 1.5% over the last 12 months.
