Manestage’s “Oliver!” begins at the Sumner Performing Arts Center March 23

ManeStage Theatre Company’s production of “Oliver!,” the musical based on the Charles Dickens story “Oliver Twist,” will begin Saturday at the Sumner Performing Arts Center.

The plot follows young orphan Oliver Twist from a 19th century London workhouse, to an apprenticeship with an undertaker, to the clutches of a band of child pickpockets and, finally, to a happy home.

The show stars Maverick McCarl as Oliver Twist, Jim Young as Fagin, the adult leader of the child pickpockets, Helene Minassian as The Artful Dodger, Daisy Nau as Oliver’s friend Nancy and Jay Henson as her thief boyfriend Bill Sykes.

The opening show will take place Saturday, March 23, at 7 p.m. Theater-goers who would like some more showings, please, are in luck: a repeat show will play Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m. with more showings the following two weekends.

General admission is $18, student/senior admission is $15, and children 10 years old and younger are $10. Box office opens one hour before showtime.
