Change comes with openness, not conflict | Church Corner

Our world is becoming more and more divided with each passing year. Not only does it seem there are more divisions than in times past, it also seems that the distance across chasms is becoming more difficult to bridge.

War never changes, but it certainly changes us | Point of Review

"I wrote this book not to dissuade us from war but to understand it. It is especially important that we, who wield such massive force across the globe, see within ourselves the seeds of our own obliteration. We must guard against the myth of war and the drug of war that can, together, rend us blind and callous as some of those we battle."

Give it time; view of God will come | Church Corner

It begins when you get a glimpse... Maybe it's first-hand and unexpected. Suddenly and through no effort of your own, there it is staring you in the face; it's real, it's obvious and it's more significant than you would ever have guessed. It lodges somewhere within, producing a feeling that won't easily pass, and now... something will be thought of differently from here forward.

Movie adds a magical element to the book, “The Lovely Bones” | Point of Review

Susie Salmon had heard that when someone was about to be murdered, their last words were either "please" or "don't" or a combination of the two. Those were the only two words she could think of when her life was about to end by the hands of her neighbor, George.

Remember the Good Samaritan this presidential election | Church Corner

During an election year, people become more vocal about candidates, what they do or do not believe and whether they have the interests of all of us at the center of their policies and goals "for the future of America."

We give because of what we’ve received | Church Corner

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:19-21 NRSV).

We’re born with flaws, but have a path to peace | Church Corner

The greatest thing about being a pastor is the people. Old and young, tall and short, artists and engineers, introverts and extroverts, outlaw bikers and RUBs (Rich Urban Bikers), jocks and geeks, chiseled and fluffy, alcoholics and shopaholics, cranky and chill, Seahawk fans and those in denial…it is the people and the uniqueness of each relationship that makes leading a Christian community like ours such an honor.

What exactly is cheese? | Ask Dr. Universe

Cheese is delicious. At least, that’s this cat’s professional opinion. For the more scientific answer, I visited the cheese makers here at Washington State University.

Share time with Jesus; it’s a life-changing relationship | Church Corner

When I read of the interactions Jesus has with people I am always floored by how simple yet profound they are. I was recently reading Luke 5:27-39 and was challenged by how Jesus so beautifully changes a man's life with two words.
