Driving class offered to 55 and older
The Buckley Senior Center will offer its next AARP 55 Alive Defensive Driving class will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. July 22. This is only a one-day course. The cost is $12 for members and $14 for non-members. Participants must bring their AARP card to the class.
Farmers market vouchers available
Farmers Market produce vouchers will be available at the Buckley Senior Center. Participants must provide identification and meet the income requirements to receive the vouchers.
Pancake breakfast benefits center
A breakfast of pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee, for $3, will be offered at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Enumclaw Senior Activity Center. Sign up at front desk. This program is sponsored by Senior Helpers Caring In-Home Companions and prepared by Chef LeRoy.
Enumclaw High gathers alumni
The annual Enumclaw High School reunion picnic for alumni graduating 50 years ago or more will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 13 at the high school commons, 226 Semanski St. The oldest graduate and the Class of 1959 will be honored. WRHS Class of ‘59 plans reunion
The White River High School class of 1959 will host a reunion picnic for anyone who attended White River High or Buckley High at 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Buckley Log Show grounds. Take a potluck dish and your own beverages. Organizers will supply hot dogs, hamburgers, condiments, plates and silverware. For information, Merle Carlson at 360-829-1591.
EHS Class of 1959
sets reunion date
The Enumclaw High School graduating class of 1959 will host a 50-year reunion at 5 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Muckleshoot Casino. At 6 p.m. Sept. 18, there will be a no-host cocktail social to include the classes of 1958 and 1960 at the El Camino Restaurant. Black Diamond center plans trip
A field trip to the Ginkgo Petrified State Park by Vantage, Wash., is scheduled for July 25. The van leaves at 8 a.m. and returns early evening. There is a $10 non-refundable deposit. Bring money for lunch at Blustery’s Burgers and a possible dinner stop.
Center offers seniors energy assistance
Salvation Army assistance for Puget Sound energy bills is available Families, seniors and disabled persons with an urgent or final notice in Black Diamond, Green River Gorge, Ravensdale, Selleck, Buckley, Enumclaw, Maple Valley and Covington may be eligible for energy assistance up to the last $150 on gas or electric service. Assistance is also offered as gasoline vouchers, propane vouchers, rental assistance and other essentials, to those who reside in the area.
