Apr 20 2010, 4:20 PM Kasey Kahne started fifth and finished fifth in Monday's NASCAR Sprint Cup rain-delayed Samsung Mobile 500 from Texas Motor Speedway.

The fifth-place finish capped a busy week for the Enumclaw native. Earlier he announced plans to drive with Hendrick Motorsports beginning in 2012.

White River High School students shine in FBLA competition
Apr 21 2010, 12:20 PM There's been big news coming out of the White River High School FBLA.

Due to her involvement in the organization, White River High senior Morgan Wilson was recently awarded a scholarship from Johnson & Wales University totaling more than $92,000. The scholarship also includes funds for a semester of studying abroad. Johnson & Wales gives one such scholarship each year to a FBLA student leader.

White River High to stage 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown'
Apr 21 2010, 12:24 PM Under the direction of Kacee Barber, White River High School students will present the musical comedy "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown." The play will be staged at 7 p.m. April 29, April 30 and May 1 with a 2 p.m. matinee scheduled for May 2.

Senior Keenan Barber plays Charlie Brown. Junior Kristen Mithell has the role of his sister Sally and freshman Jamie Meagher plays Brown's loyal beagle Snoopy. Lucy Van Pelt is portrayed by freshman Lindsay Bowers and senior Wesley Schaible takes the stage as Linus Van Pelt. Zach Schneider, a senior, rounds out the leading cast members as Schroeder.

Army Corps warns of higher-than-average flows in the Green River
May 14 2010, 5:48 PM Those using the Green River Thursday through Saturday are advised that flows will be significantly higher than they have been over this past week, so caution is advised. This is due to water being released from Howard Hanson Dam. Outflows from the dam are expected to remain well below flood stage.
