Average retail gasoline prices in Seattle have risen 13.9 cents per gallon in the past week, ( May 14) averaging $4.21/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 3.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.73/g, according to gasoline price website SeattleGasPrices.com.

Washington’s rate of exemption from vaccines required for school has dropped significantly in the first year since passage of a law that changed the parental opt-out process. Kindergarten exemption rates for required immunizations dropped to 4.5 percent for the 2011-2012 school year compared to 6.0 percent in 2010-2011 and 6.2 percent in 2009-2010.
