Pets need cold protection, too
Dec 15 2008, 9:11 PM With the continued threat of snow and frigid temperatures, King County Animal Care and Control warns pet owners to protect their animals from the elements. Animals can suffer from frostbite and can get lost or injured during a wind or snow storm.

Here are some suggested cold weather tips for pet owners:

Dec 15 2008, 9:13 PM The Sumner Spartans gymnastics crew traveled to Emerald Ridge High for a three-team meet Dec. 10, placing behind Todd Beamer High and the host Jaguars.

Coach Kimmie Marton was excited about the finish, however, because she was able to field nearly a full squad. During the season opener a week earlier, she had a skeleton crew due to a handful of Spartans not yet eligible.

At Emerald Ridge, Sumner High scored 137 team points, trailing Beamer’s 160.45 and Emerald Ridge, 158.7.

The Hornets lifted the lid on their South Puget Sound League 3A season when they hosted Bonney Lake Dec. 9 and pulverized the Panthers 66-32, thanks at least in part to junior guard Taylor Myers who poured in 21 points.
