The drama kicked up another notch in Black Diamond tonight when Councilman Bill Boston announced he was recusing himself from the hearings on the two master planned developments, The Villages and Lawson Hills.

Black Diamond City Councilman Bill Boston provided more information during a phone interview today, June 24, concerning his decision to recuse himself from the hearings for two master planned developments, The Villages and Lawson Hills. Boston stepped away from the proceedings Wednesday, June 23, at the opening of the hearing. The City Council is considering the permit application for the YarrowBay master planned developments.

The first four days of the hearing for The Villages and Lawson Hills master planned developments in Black Diamond were filled with emotion, drama and more than a few plot twists. The five-member City Council is in the process of considering the approval - with conditions - of permits for the two YarrowBay developments.

An 18-year-old teenage male from Enumclaw was seriously injured in single-car rollover accident in the 19200 block of the Southeast Auburn-Black Diamond Road at about noon July 1. Mountain View Fire and Rescue/Black Diamond Fire Department responded to the accident.

After weeks of deliberations, debate and discussion the Black Diamond City Council unanimously voted to approve, with conditions, the master planned developments The Villages and Lawson Hills. The Tuesday evening vote directs the City Attorney, Bob Sterbank, to draft an ordinance with conditions for the two YarrowBay developments. Sterbank will present the document to the council at a closed-record hearing scheduled for Sept. 14.

The Black Diamond Police Department reported an 86-year-old woman, Ella May Walker, was stabbed to death Friday afternoon in the 25000 block of Morgan Street. The woman’s 50-year-old son, Cecil Douglas Walker, was arrested for allegedly committing first degree murder, domestic violence in the death of his mother.
