White River High presents ‘Charlie Brown’

Under the direction of Kacee Barber, White River High School students will present the musical comedy “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown.” The play will be staged at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students.

Corps begins intensive monitoring of Howard Hanson Dam

The reservoir at Howard Hanson Dam has reached 1,147 feet above sea level this week, the point at which the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers begins intensive monitoring, including scientists on the ground around the clock. The Seattle District of the Corps slowly began last month to allow water levels to rise behind the dam for the annual spring fill of the reservoir. Spring storage of water is a normal operation to provide summer and fall water supply for various purposes.

At 11:59 p.m. Thursday, April 15 the Black Diamond Hearing Examiner, Phil Olbrechts, released his decision stating the final environmental impact statement for The Villages and Lawson Hills to be adequate, which allows the master planned developments to move to the next round.

There's been big news coming out of the White River High School FBLA. Due to her involvement in the organization, White River High senior Morgan Wilson was recently awarded a scholarship from Johnson & Wales University totaling more than $92,000. The scholarship also includes funds for a semester of studying abroad.

Peak Experience’s Victoria Hernandez, a Level 8 qualifier to the Region 2 meet, which included athletes from Washington, Oregon, Montana, Alaska, Idaho and Hawaii, made quite an impression during the March 9-11 West Coast Regionals. Coaches said Hernandez, who previously had contented herself with a controlled mid-8.0s scores on balance beam, was aggressive and tough throughout the weekend, nailing a solid back handspring then immediately and successfully launching into another, receiving full value for the sequence and catapulting her to a top-20 all-around finish.
