NASCAR's Kahne finding new home with Hendrick Motorsports

Hendrick Motorsports announced Tuesday evening that beginning with the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, Enumclaw's Kasey Kahne will drive the No. 5 Chevrolets of Hendrick Motorsports after signing a long-term contract with the organization.

At 11:59 p.m. Thursday, April 15 the Black Diamond Hearing Examiner, Phil Olbrechts, released his decision stating the final environmental impact statement for The Villages and Lawson Hills to be adequate, which allows the master planned developments to move to the next round.

White River High School students shine in FBLA competition

There's been big news coming out of the White River High School FBLA. Due to her involvement in the organization, White River High senior Morgan Wilson was recently awarded a scholarship from Johnson & Wales University totaling more than $92,000. The scholarship also includes funds for a semester of studying abroad.

Army Corps warns of higher-than-average flows in the Green River

Those using the Green River Thursday through Saturday are advised that flows will be significantly higher than they have been over this past week, so caution is advised. This is due to water being released from Howard Hanson Dam. Outflows from the dam are expected to remain well below flood stage.

The theater and English teacher was first shocked to learn she was named Hornet PTSA Teacher of the Year, and moments later was also named the winner of the annual Mary Meisenbach Excellence in Education Award.

Mother gives CPR and revives her 16-month-old daughter found floating in Lake Sawyer | Update

The Black Diamond Fire Department reported the mother of a 16-month-old girl saved her daughter’s life after the girl was found floating in Lake Sawyer Friday night about 8:30 p.m. A message sent from spokesman Tim Perciful stated the mother revived the girl by providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital following treatment at the scene from emergency medical personnel.
