Borrowing an idea made popular in a New England town, the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce has launched a Return of the Pumpkin People campaign.

Designed for local businesses, the program encourages merchants to build imaginative displays using pumpkins. There is no theme and creativity is encouraged.

Participating businesses must have their pumpkin people or pumpkin animals ready for display Oct. 9 through Oct. 31. The only rule is that the heads must be real pumpkins.

The chamber will pass out first place, second place and people’s choice awards. Judging will be on Oct. 23.

Applications are available at the chamber office, 1421 Cole St. The cost to participate is $15 for chamber members, $25 for others.

Questions can be directed to the chamber office, 360-825-7666.
