Superintendent makes address
Enumclaw School District Superintendent Mike Nelson will present his annual State of Education address at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Enumclaw High School auditorium.
This year’s event will demonstrate the technology students will soon by using in the classroom. Nelson also will talk about what the district has accomplished during the past year and its goals for the future.
EHS robotics team finishes 11th
Enumclaw High School’s robotics team finished 11th among 24 teams and won the Judge’s Award at the FIRST Robotics Washington State Championship at Sammamish High Jan. 16.
FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.
“The kids are so excited, you couldn’t stop them now,” adviser Corey Cassell said of the first-year team.
Black Diamond PTA plans dinner
The Black Diamond Elementary PTA will host its community spaghetti feed from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 11 in the school gymnasium.
There will be crafts, bingo, raffles and a silent auction.
Presale tickets are $3 for seniors (65 and older), $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Prices at the door will be $2 more per person.
Tutoring program has new location
Enumclaw + Black Diamond Tutors, a program of Village Tutors Inc., is now operated by Auburn Youth Resources. This free, community-based tutoring program is open to all students in all subjects.
The tutoring center has relocated to the Enumclaw Youth Center, 1356 Cole St. It is open from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday for students in grades 9-12 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesdays for grades kindergarten through eighth.
