Local residents can trade their worn American flags for new flags as part of a program jointly sponsored by Living Court Assisted Living Community, Expressions at Enumclaw and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1949.

Beginning Monday, as part of the national Flag Week celebration, anyone wishing to exchange a tattered flag for a new version of Old Glory can do so – at no charge – at either Living Court or Expressions at Enumclaw. The exchange will run through June 17 but is limited by the number of flags at each location; reservations are available.

Living Court is at 2229 Jensen St. and the phone number is 360-825-0280. Expressions at Enumclaw is at 2454 Cole St. and the number is 360-825-4565.

The worn-out flags will be properly disposed of by members of VFW 1949.
