Plateau gardens open to visitors

The Auburn Adventist Academy will host Pleasures of Planting, a Plateau garden tour, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 10.

The tour will include six gardens, a specialty plant sale, local art and local garden columnist Marianne Binetti as speaker.

This is the first of what organizers hope will become an annual event to benefit the Auburn Adventist Academy.

The tour will feature the Oster, Jensen/Kirkman, Bishop, Owings/Brown, Rupert and Bell gardens.

The event starts at the Auburn Academy campus, 5000 Auburn Way S. After Binetti speaks, the tours will begin, around 10 a.m. Each garden will have live music, speakers, refreshments and vendors. Guests can register at the http://pip.karmy.com or call Vickie Sandvik at 253-249-0108. The preregistration cost is $25.
