Organizers in Enumclaw are hoping to get neighborhoods and community groups on board for this year's National Night Out scheduled for Aug. 2.

National Night Out provides an opportunity for neighbors get out and meet each other to strengthen the communities in which they live.

Local organizer Trip Hart said the program is about neighbors caring for neighbors. He said the event is an chance to build police and community partnerships, build anti-crime programs, heighten crime and drug prevention and just a time to get to know the people who live nearby.

A meeting for those interested in organizing a block party or looking for more information is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at the Enumclaw library, 1700 First St.For information, contact Hart at trip@tx3.net or Kimberly Fish at kfish@skynetbb.com.
