As the city of Enumclaw and the Enumclaw School District continue to hammer out an agreement regarding which entity will control the stadium, workers were busy Wednesday installing turf, building the concession stand, landscaping and painting the grandstand.

The Enumclaw City Council met Aug. 15 to continue discussion from its Aug. 8 meeting regarding an agreement with the school district over stadium operations. School District leaders recessed their Aug. 15 meeting to attend the City Council discussion.

With the field expected to open for the Enumclaw High School Hornets season-opening football game Sept. 2, the city said it will work on a user agreement with the school district while continuing to explore a long-term lease.

A ribbon cutting and kick off ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 26 with representatives from the YEAS committee, school district, city, Seattle Seahawks and other groups who played a vital role in the stadium's renovation. The Enumclaw Football Foundation is also planning events for the evening.

The Hornets were originally set to scrimmage that evening on the new turf, but those plans will have to wait due to permitting issues.
