Controlled burn scheduled for Greenwater area Saturday

Greenwater residents and travelers on state Route 410 will see smoke Saturday from a controlled burn on the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Fire management teams will burn piles of understory plants creating forage openings in elk winter rangeland as part of the Greenwater elk forage management project. The burning operation is located at T19N, R10E, Sections 19, 21, 23 and 31 and will take approximately 10 days.
