Buckley Relay For Lifegets rolling, meeting Wednesday night

January 9, 2012 · 10:49 PM

The Relay for Life of Buckley will kick off its 2012 celebration at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Finn Hall, 10411 234th Ave. E., in Buckley.

This is the time to register a team and learn more about the annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Relay for Life teams take turns walking or running around a path in downtown Buckley near the skate board park. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, the relay is an overnight event up to 24 hours in length.

This year’s event will take place May 18 and 19.

Last year, 35 teams with 489 participants joined forces to walk through the evening and next day to raise awareness and funds for cancer. The event traditionally includes a luminaria lap, survivor lap, entertainment, games, food and fun.

Last year, Buckley Relay for Life teams raised more than $26,000.
