PREP WRESTLING: White River, Enumclaw post wins Thursday night

In SPSL 2A action Thursday night, White River topped Sumner 47-15.

The Hornets put together a string of wins from 160 to 285 pounds to seal the victory.

At 160, Gavin Severson pinned his Spartan in 5 minutes, 23 seconds.

Brennan Gulin followed it up with a 1:06 pin at 170.

Travis Morris won a 14-5 major decision at 180.

At 195, Chris Skinner won with a 1:49 fall.

Andre Fails posted a 6-5 decision at 220 and Justin Nale won the 285 match with a 1:27 pin.

The Hornets also got victories from Lucas Doll at 106 with a 7-1 decision;  Bryce Thompson scored a 9-1 major decision at 120; Trevor Kurtz pinned his Spartan opponent in 3:40; and Caleb Maurseth scored a 14-8 major decision at 145.

White River hosts Fife tonight at 7 p.m.

 

Enumclaw was also a winner, closing out its SPSL 3A season as league champions with a 49-26 win over Decatur Thursday.

The win stretches the Hornets' league win-streak to 42.

The Hornets started the match off with a loss, but quickly jumped ahead with pins from Colten Malek and TJ Cormier and continued to roll. Full results were not available.

Top-ranked 3A Enumclaw heads to No. 1 4A Tahoma tonight for the Battle for the Bone. Match time in Maple Valley begins at 7 p.m. This is also scheduled to be Comcasts' game of the week.
