Johns Road closed so crews can perform erosion control

July 10, 2012 · 5:53 PM

Pierce County has closed a section of Johns Road near South Prairie from July 9 through July 20 for maintenance work on the Johns Road Bridge. A detour route will be in place during the closure and drivers should plan ahead for increased travel times.

Johns Road East will be closed between A.P. Tubbs Road and 272nd Avenue. Crews will install 32 concrete blocks against the abutment on the west side of the bridge to prevent erosion. The work is expected to cost $25,000.

Drivers headed west will be directed to go through South Prairie to State Route 162. Drivers headed east will be directed to follow Johns Road East to A. P. Tubbs Road and then get on State Route 162.
