Monday, July 30, deadline to register to vote in the August primary election

There’s still time to register to vote in the Primary Election

Monday, July 30 is a key registration deadline for the August Primary Election. King County residents not currently registered to vote in Washington can register in person at the King County Elections office or the Voter Registration Annex through 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 30.

Where to register

Voters can visit King County Elections weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 919 SW Grady Way, Renton. Or, voters can visit the Voter Registration Annex at the King County Administration Building weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 500 4th Avenue, Room 311, Seattle.

Who can vote?

To be eligible to vote, you must be:

  • Eighteen years old by November 8
  • A United States citizen
  • A legal resident of the state of Washington

You may not register or vote if you:

  • Have been convicted of a felony and not had your voting rights restored
  • Have been declared by a court to be mentally incompetent and ineligible to vote

Returning your ballot

Voters can return their ballots, postmarked no later than Aug. 7, through the mail, or they can deposit their ballots in a ballot drop box by 8:00 p.m. on that day. The county has 12 ballot drop boxes and three ballot drop-off vans where voters can return their ballots without a stamp. Voters who may need assistance casting their ballot privately and independently may vote at an Accessible Voting Center.

Registered voters who have not received a ballot, or need a replacement ballot, should call the voter hotline at 206-296-VOTE (8683).

For more information on registering and voting, call the King County Voter Hotline at 206-296-VOTE (8683) or visit the King County Elections website.
