Sumner couple loses home in fire | East Pierce Fire and Rescue

Firefighters from East Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire on the 8100 block of 148th Avenue Court East, at 12:30 p.m. July 31 in Sumner.

Firefighters from East Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire on the 8100 block of 148th Avenue Court East, at 12:30 p.m. today. The home, a single–story rambler located south of Sumner was fully involved when firefighters arrived. Smoke from the fire could be seen throughout the valley.

A Pierce County deputy fire marshal estimated the loss of the house and contents at $230,000.The cause is listed as accidental. The homeowners, who had lived in the home for more than 20 years, also lost their dog in the fire.

A firefighter was slightly injured battling the blaze. He was treated at the scene.
