School supplies to be distributed in Black Diamond, donations sought

The Black Diamond Community Center is collecting school supplies for the Running Start program to help low-income families in the greater Black Diamond area.

Needed are: backpacks, three-ring binders, calculators, Fiskar scissors, loose-leaf paper, ball-point pens, markers and colored pencils.

Anyone wishing to donate can stop by the Community Center at 31605 Third Ave. (state Route 169) in Black Diamond or call 360-886-1011.

For those in need of supplies, applications are now available. To qualify, provide medical coupons or a certificate from the free or reduced lunch program. Applications are due Monday, Aug. 20.

School supplies will be distributed from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at the Black Diamond Community Center.
