The King County Sheriff's Office SWAT team responded to a call from the parents of a 27 year old man at 25800 Landsberg Road SE early in the morning on March 17.

"According to the parents the son came home around 5 a.m. intoxicated,"  Sergeant Cindi West, public information officer for the Sheriff's Office, said in an email interview Monday. "He assaulted them and would not allow them to leave the house. He also threatened to kill them. The parents were able to flee to a neighbors house for safety and to call the police."

West also added that, "we were given info that there were guns in the house and the suspect said he would not go to jail."

The SWAT team and hostage negotiators responded to the scene.

The standoff ended when the suspect gave himself up just before 1 p.m.
