Preliminary impaired boating emphasis patrol statistics from Seafair weekend | Washingnton State Patrol

The annual Impaired Boating Emphasis Patrol continued to be successful and productive.  The event which involves multiple agencies targeting boaters under the influence (BUI) and boater safety began Friday and concluded Sunday at the end of the Seafair hydroplane races.

The following are preliminary statistics from the emphasis patrol:

• Number of vessels contacted: 473

• Total number of BUI’s: 34

• Refusal of breath test ($2,050 infraction): 15

• BUI’s booked: 4

• Infractions: 42

• Medical assists: 4

• Handguns seized for forfeiture: 2

• Possession of stolen firearm: 1 (subject booked)

• Search warrants for blood draw: 4

• Search warrant for vessel: 1 (subject booked for Violation of Uniform Controlled Substance Act)
