WSDOT closures on I-5 and I-90

Not only do we have very important expansion joint replacement work that will close lanes on the northbound Interstate 5 collector-distributor in downtown Seattle this weekend, we also have several large events taking place. To avoid barking up too much frustration we need your help. Whether you are going to the Seattle Kennel Club Dog Show, Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament, Sounders FC opener or you are just doing your own thing, you need to plan the best route for you… now.

(Last month, workers chipped away concrete from a maze of rebar on southbound I-5 near I-90.)

Closure details:

10 p.m. Friday, March 7 until 5 a.m. Monday, March 10

  • The northbound I-5 collector-distributor will be reduced to a single lane between I-90 and Madison Street.
  • The South Dearborn Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed. Drivers will follow asigned detour. All other ramps will remain open.
  • All lanes and ramps on the northbound I-5 collector-distributor will be closed to move construction barriers: 11:59 p.m. Friday – 4 a.m. Saturday; 11:59 p.m. Sunday – 4 a.m. Monday
  • This blog also illustrates (with impressive animation, I might add) just what’s happening.
