Steve Allwine has set the romantic bar pretty high.

All future wedding proposals might have to be measured against the thoughtful stunt he pulled off to perfection Friday at Kibler Elementary School.

The story, briefly, goes like this.

Allwine and Renee Meininger met while attending Central Washington University. They discovered both were from Enumclaw, but hadn't kept in touch because Steve was homeschooled after fourth grade. They learned they had attended the same second-grade class at Kibler years earlier.

Time passed, they fell in love and Steve figured the perfect place to propose was where they had first met. So, with the help of Renee's mom - who works at Kibler - a plan was hatched. Believing it was “career day,” Renee arrived at the school and began telling kids about her world as an advertising copywriter for Macy's.

After a few minutes had passed, Steve strolled in, dropped to one knee and asked Renee to marry him.

The stunned bride-to-be immediately said yes.
