Bonney Lake Days set for fun

By Dennis Box

The Courier-Herald

The planning and preparation for the fun and games at Bonney Lake Days is well under way.

Administrative Services Coordinator Don Morrison, who heads a committee organizing the event, said the event planning and scheduling of vendors is going along very well.

Bonney Lake Days will begin Aug. 19 and concludes Aug. 21.

Two added events this year are a 5-mile fun run and a three-on-three basketball tournament. Both events are scheduled for Aug. 20.

The fun run begins at 9 a.m. and the registration fee is $10 and includes a T-shirt and a chance to win one of eight gift certificates to Fleet Feet Sports, the event's sponsor.

The registration fee for the basketball tournament is $40 per four-person team, and includes a T-Shirt, awards and prizes.

Aug. 19 will also coincide with National Night Out, a crime prevention program.

"We will have softball games (at Allan Yorke Park) and a safety display," Morrison said. "National Night Out will transition into Bonney Lake Days. We are planning a street dance for Friday night."

The band for the street dance has not been booked according to Morrison, but he's hoping for a band that will attract teens and young adults.

"We would like the young people to get some of the information from National Night Out," Morrison said. "The street dance would be a good opportunity.'

Saturday night's music act will be the popular Great Pretenders.

Throughout the day the main stage will feature numerous musical and entertainment acts.

Other events include a Kiwanis' pancake feed, a classic car show, and the Bonney Lake Area Senior Citizens will sponsor bingo games and old time kid games including fishing for prizes.

There will be plenty of vendor booths featuring area crafts and services.

Morrison said booths are still available for interested parties.

Those interested in registering for events or booths can download a form from the city's Web site at www.ci. bonney-lake.wa.us or by e-mailing morrisond@ci.bonney-lake.wa.us.
