School Bond Fails
April 30, 2009 · Updated 3:10 PM
Once again, most Enumclaw voters supported a bond that would have built a replacement for J.J. Smith Elementary School and remodeled several other schools in the district in Tuesday's special election, but not enough to generate a 60 percent vote for approval.
Without 60 percent support, the issue does not pass.
Election night results showed 52.07 percent of Enumclaw voters supported the $45 million bond. "No" votes were 47.93 percent. With all 42 precincts counted, a total of 4,124 voters of 15,898 of those registered, cast ballots (a turnout of slightly less than 26 percent).
The following results were posted by the King County Election Department at 9:34 p.m. Tuesday.
