East Pierce hands out annual awards

East Pierce Fire and Rescue presented annual awards to outstanding firefighters and firefighter-paramedics at a ceremony March 20.
James Parke was named Volunteer Firefighter of the Year. Justin Doyle received the Career Firefighter of the Year award. Brad Dyson was named Emergency Medical Service Provider of the Year, and the Career Officer of the Year award went to Capt. Mike Shiner.
The Fitness Award, honoring the employee who has shown a dedication to fitness throughout the year, was given to firefighter Rick Goetz.
All of the receipients were selected by their peers.
The final presentation is nominated by the chiefs only. It represents their vision of the East Pierce dream team. The 2004 recipients of the Chief's Company Award were Shiner, Lt. Eric McLeroy, Doug Babcock, Frank Gibbons and Will Poe.
